Ich vermute, bei dem Artikel verhält es sich so, dass man ihn ohne Vornamen setzt, aber mit Vornamen weglässt.

Also: ... wer die Callas war / ... wer Maria Callas war

(Wobei "die" bei einer Sängerin fast schon einem Adelstitel gleichkommt.)

Kann mich täuschen. Persönlich würde ich den Artikel hier weglassen.
