We went up by two floors to reach the apparel stalls.
eng
We went up by two floors in order to reach the apparel stalls.

However, I do think that "by" is very often dropped in daily speech so that "went up by two floors" becomes "went up two floors." Maybe that's why this sentence sounds somewhat strange to you.
To answer your question, I spent the first year of my life growing up in Pennsylvania. From then until now, I've been living in Arizona.
