I suspect we would naturally say...
The more time we spend watching TV, the less time we spend reading.
Possibly even something like this.
As people watch more and more TV, they read fewer books.
I don't know Spanish, so I don't know exactly what the message of the Spanish is.
One thing to remember is that people will be using your English sentences to study English, so you should make sure that your English sentences are good examples of English usage. Sometimes, this may mean that even if you understand a sentence, you would just leave it untranslated. That's what I often do. Maybe at a later date, when I see the sentence again, something natural-sounding pops into my mind, and then I translate it.
