Die beiden Standardnamen lauten Tom und Maria.

Man kann natürlich eine Grundsatzdebatte vom Zaun brechen, die schon mehr oder weniger mal so oder anders geführt wurde. Was sich hier durchgesetzt hat ist: Tom und Maria. (Mir hängen sie auch zum Hals raus. Egal.) Es bleibt Dir unbenommen, andere Varianten einzusetzen. Ergibt u.U. unnötige Duplikate.

Bitte an die Äpfel mit Ä denken.

Im norddeutschen Raum kommt der Name schon vor. Er ist auch lautlich recht neutral. Man kann ihn ohne Schwierigkeiten deutsch aussprechen. Deswegen habe ich ihn inzwischen als den Namen des männlichen Protagonisten hier akzeptiert. (In meinen allerersten Sätzen habe ich auch Thomas geschrieben.)

Das fällt mir gerade ein: Eine meiner Nichten heißt Maria. Und ihr Mann Thomas. Unglaublich! Echt wahr.
