Não, meu caro @odexed. Esse "I'm afraid", é um idiomatismo da língua inglesa. Em bom Português, não dizemos "Eu receio que ele estava certo", ou "Tenho medo de que ele estivesse certo", mas, simplesmente, "Acho, acredito que ele estava com a razão", "Tenho a impressão de que ele estava certo" etc.
Agradeço seu comentário, que me dá a oportunidade de esclarecer essa questão de como melhor traduzir o "I'm afraid".
