Ich weiß nicht, ob das süddeutsch ist. Ich fand den Ausdruck angebrachter als "bettelt seine Eltern immer um Geld".

Sprachen sind doch wirklich etwas Interessantes! Ich habe den Ausdruck sicher von meinen Eltern übernommen, die allerdings nicht aus Süddeutschland, sondern aus Böhmen stammen.
Ich finde "um Geld angehen" liegt in der Mitte von "bitten" und "betteln". Viele Sätze kann man wirklich nicht 100%-ig übersetzen, es gibt immer Nuancen. Aber das ist ja das Schöne an den Sprachen.
