La tournure la plus naturelle serait "ont lieu" au lieu de "se passent".

Au choix :
* Dans ce livre ont lieu beaucoup de coïncidences. (si tu tiens à l'inversion sujet-verbe)
* Il y a lieu beaucoup de coïncidences dans ce livre.
* Ce livre contient de nombreuses coïncidences.
