Hey,
I did put this effect on purpose, as it exists in the French sentence as well. I recently received an email of a Canadian friend of mine starting with "Monday is pie-day!" (on the 14th of March) and I thought I could use the same formulation here.
Could you confirm that this sentence could not be said in English?

The sentence doesn't sound natural to me, as is.

I'd suggest adding "the"

"Friday is the housewarming party!" or "The housewarming party is on Friday!"
