No, "sólo" de "únicamente" (only) puede llevar tilde. En la última modificación hecha por la RAE se aceptó "solo", pero no se eliminó la forma original.

Sugerencia:

tenía sólo un ojo (ahí puedes mantener la tilde porque puedes sustituir "sólo" por "solamente", "sólo" actúa como adverbio, que es cuando, según la regla, se escribía tilde en esta palabra)

o

Tenía un solo ojo (en ese caso "solo" se puede sustituir por único, actúa como adjetivo y no como adverbio, de modo que no puede llevar tilde)

No lo decía por eso. De hecho estoy en desacuerdo con que la Academia haya introducido ese cambio en la norma y sigo diferenciando entre "solo" y "sólo".

Cuándo se utiliza uno u otro depende de la posición que ocupe dentro de la frase. Es correcto decir "tenía sólo un ojo" (aquí funciona como adverbio) o bien "tenía un solo ojo" (en este caso es un adjetivo), pero "tenía un únicamente ojo" no tiene ningún sentido.
