Pergunta : Acabo de terminar de ler o livro. Acho pleonástica a expressão "acabar de terminar", mas tenho-a visto empregada muitas vezes. Prefiro: Acabei de ler o livro agora mesmo / nesse instante. Que me diz a Academia?

Resposta : Prezado consulente, de fato, há pleonasmo na expressão, embora, em linguagem oral, seja absolutamente aceita. Em francês, há expressões similares para indicar que uma ação terminou no exato momento em que se fala.

Em linguagem escrita, contudo, o emprego dessa expressão deve ser evitado.
