In French, there are spaces before "double-points" : :;?!
And furthermore, it allows for more readability...
Spaces were suppressed in other languages at the time when computers had very limited memory. This is not the case anymore...

I like that better readability.
Actually, since we French all learnt to read with spaces before double points, we experience real difficulties reading languages that don't put these spaces in modern edition, as we confuse the ! and ? with tall letters such as l or P. It is an actual visual impediment and I wish this silly reform would be abrogated.
