I wanted a sentence using 話せる in its "understanding/sensible" sense, rather than the more common "able to speak" sense.

Now I know how to describe that kind of person in English. ;)

Me dictionary suggests the following meaning for 「話せる人」: a person worth to talk to; a person it makes sense to talk to. Does those suggestions make sense, too? :-)

I like having sentences that are correct without getting too 直訳. That one came from an example in a major dictionary (I changed it a wee bit.)
