call on your parents = visit your parents
(instead of "call your parents" = make a telephone call to your parents)

Many of the sentences in this thread are mistranslations of the original.

Apparently here 'call on' means to pay a short visit (and seems to be rather archaic for its formality)
I'm posting this here to have speakers check related translations because it seems a lot of them - Russian, Esperanto and German at least, as far as I can see - are about calling on the telephone.

Yes "call on" means to visit. I would rarely use it in this context and would use "visit" "go and see" or similar.

If I were translating the German #642313 I'd use "ring" "phone" or "call". As the English and German don't match in this case I've unlinked the English from the German.
