This really doesn't sound right. One would say "note it down", "jot it down", "write it down". For me, putting something down means that you're physically holding something that you put down.

This not my sentence - I only adopted it before translating it to other languages.

I don't know how to check it with the original Japanese. I guess I would write "write it down" or any of the other options you suggested.

I changed it to "write it down".

Sounds much better. So many of those original English-Japanese translations have problems with them. Little by little!

It's odd to find (in retrospect) what you can write when you are tired.... I wrote yesterday "This not my sentence". I was sure I wrote "This is/was not my sentence". Never mind, we're all humans (except for those Klingons among us....).

Thanks for your comment.

My favorite lapse in judgement (although it wasn't due to being tired) was this sentence I wrote: nº663035

it still matches the japanese (I think)

Eldad Eldad February 5, 2011 February 5, 2011 at 6:59:59 PM UTC link Permalink

Thanks, saeb.
Yes, I would gather it would match it, as I only changed it from "put down" to "write down".

@darinmex, nice! :)
I added an Esperanto rendition. It's a pity I couldn't convey the Irish flavor in the Esperanto variant....
