I would like to know who tagged this as "archaic" and for which reason?
This phrase is used daily by millions of people. Why is that archaic in any way?

It is considered archaic because speakers of modern English would say, "Please forgive me!" rather than "Pray forgive me!"

Yeah, I've never heard anybody say "Pray forgive me." who wasn't in a historical movie.

Well, maybe you should hang around with more grown-ups...

Maybe it's a British thing? I've never heard it in the US and I'm in my 50's. I've read it a lot in novels and such.
