This sentence "The explanation was beyond my understanding.'' means that I don't have the intellectual capacity to understand this; it's too complicated.
The other sentences could have any number of reasons for not understanding: badly written, bad grammar, not clearly thought out by the writer etc.
That's why I used the word "Related:" Also, "that explanation" and "the explanation" don't match exactly either.
I don't understand the purpose of your original message. Is someone keeping track of related sentences?
