Does this sentence have two meanings?
- I only took a shower, nothing else
- I took a shower a few moments ago

With no other context, it's more likely to mean the latter, I think.

Yes, I completely agree with CK. The sentence's meaning only changes to the former in very specific situations such as a response to a question like "Did you take a bath this morning?" "I just took a shower." These specific situations don't happen very often and the latter meaning originally suggested I've found to be much more common!

I wonder about British English.
As I know, it tends to use Present Perfect in the situations like the second PaulP's situation (I've just taken a shower). So, what's the "default" meaning of the sentence for a British person? Is it different?
