doesn't match the English.

where is the night ?? As far as I know, you could say "ich konnte gut schlafen" in broad day light...

>Sacredceltic only accepts literal translations and does not understand that different languages have different ways of saying the same things.
You're really being disingenuous, here, xtofu80...
A "night's sleep" is an instance of the class "sleep". But this doesn't work the other way...
Translating doesn't consist in generalising classes, otherwise we would end up with only one word...

>Well, "night" is implied.
No it's not. "ich konnte gut schlafen" duriong the day, the morning, the evening, for 10 minutes, an hour, or the whole day.
Here, the English sentence provides 2 key pieces of information of time and duration that your translation is lacking:
1) it was at night
2) it lasted for an entire night, not just and hour.
