je dirais « un dysfonctionnement » parce qu'un « défaut » est permanent (il est dans la conception)

Tes, it's a pity.
This sentence is correct in itself, but is not, according to me, the right translation of the English sentence, since a fault is something transitory, when a "défaut" is something intrinsic/permanent...
The right translation of "fault" should be "dysfonctionnement", I think.
