Yo creo que lo más habitual es incorporar el artículo al usar el singular y prescindir de él para el plural:

Este diccionario me parece útil para el principiante.
Este diccionario me parece útil para (los) principiantes.

Ocurre, a veces, al referirse a este tipo de temática, que en el hablante subyace la idea de una escala y se piensa intuitivamente en un sustantivo ausente u omitido, como nivel, con lo que la referencia se vuelve más adjetival que nominal:
- Este diccionario me parece útil para (el nivel) principiante.
- Este diccionario me parece útil para (el nivel) intermedio.
- Este diccionario me parece útil para (el nivel) avanzado.

Si deseas eliminar la grabación, ya la modificaré cuando haga otra tanda.
