on second thought أحداً منا doesn't work here it's like saying "he's none of us". either أحدنا or واحدا منا would sound fine
did I mention that I look down on يكون when it's used that way? (btw this sentence actually implies the guy doesn't exist(!!))

Yes, it's an option indeed, but it does suggest (also) that he is no longer alive (about which I agree). I'll reinstate it as one of the variants.
