Мальчик повесил портрет на стену.

Здравствуйте!
Здесь можно найти примеры правильных английских предложений (и неправильных тоже :) ), поэтому обращайте внимание на то, кто является их автором. Информацию об авторе (его/ее родной язык и уровень владения различными языками можно найти в профиле автора).

Horus is a good name in my opinion.

Having two audios (male and female version) for the same sentence can cause some confusion with translations into the languages, that have difference for male and female speakers. For example, you have a Hebrew sentence with two audios (male and female) and somebody translate it into Russian.
In Russian there are different ways to say the same thing for a male speaker and for a female speaker in some cases. So, there will be a kind of confusion: which Hebrew audio matches with the Russian male sentence, and which one matches with the Russian female sentence. If there are two different Hebrew sentences, it would be much easier.

Почему бы и нет?

The siurse is Yahoo.answers, as I found out. But it's impossible to find, if one search just They are less friendly than my new neighbor.
I didn't understand, which quotes an author meaned. Maybe, Wikiquotes or something like that.

I've just googled three random sentences that were deleted before as they seemed like "taken from another site". You can see the results.
https://www.google.ru/?gws_rd=s...sty+as+oranges
https://www.google.ru/?gws_rd=s...y+new+neighbor
https://www.google.ru/?gws_rd=s...annes+Festival
So, Google have found nothing.
Maybe, we must have more substantial grounds for deleting sentences, than just "they seem like copied from another website"?

Yes. The sentence "meat is taste and useful" is controversial for vegans, "humas were descended from apes" is offensive for creationists, though for me they are just examples of sentences. Also I don't see anything unaccetable in phrases "The USA attacked Iraq" or "Russia interferes in the situation in Ukraine" or similar.

You're right. This standard helps to learn English, but not another languages.

Such controversial topics like politics, religion, things relating to sexuality, etc are parts of our life, so we can't exclude them from Tatoeba. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong if people express their opinions on different topics, creating sentences about it, cause doing it they created examples of "real" language.
We just should be guided by laws, cause some kind of speech, like personal insults, are unaccetable.

http://dictionary.cambridge.org...british/?q=mat
http://www.oxforddictionaries.c...on/english/mat
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/mat
В любом случае, другим участникам не стоит использовать этот тег, так как цель тегов - помогать в понимании предложения, а не запутывать.

Для англоговорящего ваш тег означает именно "Русский коврик", нравится вам это или нет. То понятие, что вы имеете в виду, имхо, лучше всего передается словами "swear words".
Maybe, "obscene words" or "curse words".

No, it's an old English word. "Mat" it's something similar to "rug", but "rug" is woven or knitting usually, but "mat" is not.

I agree.
Also, it would be great having personal tags OK for every user to let everyone see who has tagged it. It shouldn't be a hard task, cause now one can see an ID of the user, who tagged. But a name would be better.

На Tatoeba.org такого нет ни для одного языка. Вот здесь есть автоконвертер, если печатать в строке поиска, используя букву X, он автоматически преобразовывает.

Hi Tod
You can send me your Russian sentences in PM if you want them to be corrected.

That's a good idea.
So, all the discussions will be there, not in comments to sentences.

I was thinking about it, too. Currently I'm just adding my translations, if there are no any indirect translations, and hope for an automatically script. Checking all the indirect translation is too slow. Adding a translation is much faster in most cases.

Perhaps, Jose is "Joseph" in English. In Russian there is a name "Osip" that means "Joseph" and the name "Foma" that means "Tomas", but these names are really rare nowadays.
