Ok, I'll render it by an imaginary translation:
Oh, sorry, now I get it! I really had tomatoes before my eyes!
:-)

I'm not an English expert, I think it could be translated by:
I was really blind!

I would render it by "I was really distracted"... but there must be English idioms that match.
