Ohne Kontext ist das ziemlich unübersetzbar. Was soll das bedeuten?

many sentences in Tatoeba don't have context. I understand it very well without. And I managed to translate it, sio it is not that much "unübersetzbar"...
Something tells me you're just after me this morning to take revenge...

Ich (als Muttersprachler) verstehe auch nicht ganz, was "gebrochen" heißen soll, wann kann man das denn verwenden? In welchem Zusammenhang?

@sacredceltic: So "gebrochen" here means "ambiguous", right? Where did you get that information from?

>@sacredceltic: So "gebrochen" here means "ambiguous", right? Where did you get that information from?

From my German-French dictionary. it's one of the meanings of "gebrochen" as an adjective, which seemed to fit this context the best, as Xeklat debated the purpose of Tatoeba, which is a bit ambiguous as to the nature of the sentences that should be stored...

Also soviel wie "inkongruent" oder "mit Verwerfungslinien zwischen den Hauptstandpunkten".

>I understand it very well without.

Well, you knew the context because you copied the sentence from its context in the original discussion.

>Something tells me you're just after me this morning to take revenge...

Yeah, my life totally revolves around you. Actually I just looked through all the recent additions to the German corpus (as I do almost every day) and commented on all sentences with typos, errors or that otherwise seemed odd. As you are one of the most prolific Tatoeba contributors I am almost bound to meet you at some sentences.

Yes, and that's a sentence from a native. That's what Tatoeba is about.

End of discussion.

Funny that in the past days, you neglected this, though...

I see. Strange usage of "gebrochen", that I've never come across so far. But yeah, nothing wrong with taking sentences out of context.

Yeah...even natives learn sometimes...especially when young, curiously...

(I meant for statement such as "Something tells me you're just after me this morning to take revenge.." / "Yeah, my life totally revolves around you." )

...but I'm perfectly happy to stand corrected in German, as I never claimed any mastery of this language. Notice that my german sentences are always tagged either with a "@ Needs Native Check" and/or a "@translation check" tag on my translation...
I very seldom compose German sentences myself. I merely pick them here and there from natives, whenever I deem them interesting enough to be stored and translated.
So I mainly recycle comments and the wall and tag these borrowed sentences accordingly, paying hommage to their authors, as I did for this one...

Nobody ever asked Socrates if he wanted to be quoted. Publicly expressed sentences do not belong to their authors anymore...
I found this sentence interesting and decided to insert and translate it. It's my property now.

If you find it so unfamiliar, please tag it accordingly.

If I may react on the notion of exemplarity, I find that most of the time, people create very unnatural sentences precisely because they want them to be "exemplary" to a degree that is nowhere to be seen in real life.
That's why I sometimes like recycling real life.
