What a nice ambiguity, if we consider the possibilty that Andersen became an literary icon after he had already become famous. The three esperanto translations illustrate this ambiguity.

I feel like the sentence would be better without "of".

I felt the same. Thanks, I changed it.

Eldad Eldad December 17, 2011 December 17, 2011 at 2:29:17 AM UTC flag Report link Permalink

Alex, I just now saw the ambiguity you mentioned above, looking at one of the Esperanto sentences. I liked that! :)

CK, I changed it as per your suggestion.

...you have changed it and this means you has brought me in trouble, because 2 of the 3 connected esperanto versions became incongruent. So I will have to reconnect them and make them a gift for another language.

"have brought of course"..., this crazy tatoeba detains us from sleeping. What have we done to be punished with this addiction?

Eldad Eldad December 17, 2011 December 17, 2011 at 10:13:56 AM UTC flag Report link Permalink

Do we now have to change all the related sentences? Should I leave the new formulation in English? Please keep me updated, Alex.

Now everything is okay. I rearranged some links and also added the former version of the sentence shown above. It is ambigous semantically, but correct language nevertheless. And I confess: meanwhile I like it. :)))
[Lastan nokton mi sukcesis venki mian antaŭdorman grumblemon kaj aranĝis la ligojn tiel, ke ne estu malkongruoj. Krome mi aldonis la antaŭan, ambiguan frazon; ĝi ja estas malgraŭ la ambigueco lingve tute senerara... kaj krome mi jam ekŝatis ĝin :)))]

Fino bona, ĉio bona! :)
