I have this from a collection of proverbs in different languages. Is the French version (apart from the missing é) wrong, in this case?

Das von mir angeführte Zitat [Chacun son métier, (et) les vaches seront bien gardées] wird ziemlich häufig gehört - auch heute noch - und stammt aus dem 18. Jahrhundert. Es ist die Moral einer Fabel von Florian (Le Vacher et le Garde-Chasse).
Was ich Ihnen jetzt verrate, wußte ich selber nicht vor einer halben Stunde:
Die selbe Idee wurde schon im 17. Jahrhundert in mehreren Wörterbüchern ausgedrückt, und zwar wie folgt :
« On dit, quand chacun se mêle de son métier, les vaches sont bien gardées » also beinahe, was Sie gefunden haben, aber "se mêler de" wirkt zur Zeit eher pejorativ und dieser Ausdruck existiert zwar, wird aber nicht tagtäglich gebraucht!
