Tute aparte de la origina demando mi atentigas, ke
"-u" ne egalas al "devi -i". Inter ambaŭ estas klara signifo diferenco.
Egalas "plenumu" kaj "vi plenumu" (La maleblo de miskompreno ĉi tie permesas forigi la subjekton sen ŝanĝi la signifon).

Tio tamen ne pledas kontraŭ diskuteblo de klarigo per ordona i-formo.

Unuavide al mi ŝajnas pli facile interpreti (ekzemple) "Ne fumi!" kiel (gramatike reduktitan, sed akcepteblan) frazon, ĉar "sian" kvazaŭ petegas pri antaŭa mencio de subjekto.

Postskribaĵo: Mi skribis "-u" ne egalas al "devi -i"
elirante de la konstato, ke "-u" esprimas subjektivan sugeston,deziron aŭ ordonon dum kontraste "devi" esprimas (realan aŭ asertatan) objektivan neceson. (Mi koncedas, ke mi nunmomente ne estas certa kaj ne povas kontroli ĉu tiu distingo estas ĝenerale akceptata aŭ ne. La lingvopraktiko ŝajnas subteni tian distingon.)
