I think مجتهد means hardworking, not good at something.

I did most of my schooling in Arabic, and I'm pretty sure that this adjective can be used for "being good" in some subject.
I'll ask other people, though.

Oh... and this, of course, doesn't mean that this is the only way to express this idea. There may be other words that one could use. Perhaps somebdoy else may suggest something different.
