Obrigadíssimo!

Ah! That's so true! :-)

Eu nunca duvidei... as línguas modernas são mais enxutas, relativamente pobres em léxico e ricas em idiotismos. :-)

So? They should be more difficult - if they are richer in idioms...
:-)

"Idiotismos" are not "idioms". :-)

Are you sure? :-)

Er... it's my language... so, yes, I think...

"Já o idiotismo
É tudo que a língua
Não traduziu
Mas tem idiotismo
Também na fala
De um imbecil"
Sandra Peres e Luiz Tatit (Palavra Cantada)

An idiom is an expression, such as "End of the way!" (a Hebrew idiom meaning "It's the best!"). Didn't you mean that by "idiotismos"?

Or, in English: "Way to go!" - which is also an idiom.
I thought it's called "idiotismo" in Portuguese.

I know what an idiom is...

"Idiotismos" são termos incorporados a uma língua sem sofrer tradução, como indica sabiamente o trecho da canção. É óbvio que há outra possibilidade...

Well, that's OK with me (I believe idioms are part of that, i.e., part of the "idiotismos").
The thing is, it actually corroborates what I said, that because of that, modern languages should actually be more difficult than the older versions of languages (if that's the case, that is).
While the original sentence asserted the opposite.

I guess you intended "dialects", and not "idioms". I was conscious of this word in Portuguese, but I was sure it also meant "idioms", as yet another meaning of the same word.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.
I guess it's the late hour now, really late.
Need to call it a day.
Take care!
