Hi Duran,
Does it mean "his/her parents" or "his/her family"?
Or both?

duran duran December 14, 2012 December 14, 2012 at 12:18:50 PM UTC flag Report link Permalink

Normally parents refer to father and mother. Father and mother usually refer to family. In fact we should say: "Onun ebeveynleri beni sevdi." I don't like the word "ebeveyn", but we can translate it as you said. Both of them are correct. Think of a family with only one child. Both her parents and her family are the same people. As a result, we can say: onun ailesi or onun ebeveynleri or onun anne-babası.
Take care. I hope that's enough for you to understand.

Don't mention it. Take care.
