Needs native check.

sacredceltic sacredceltic February 14, 2013 February 14, 2013 at 11:48:29 AM UTC flag Report link Permalink

it's still relevant to French speakers, though...

How silly of you !

Sentence is okay.

@FeuDRenais
Thanks, I've deleted the tag.

@sacredceltic
;)

you're not native, FeuDRenais...you can't OK English sentences.

FeuDRenais FeuDRenais February 14, 2013 February 14, 2013 at 11:55:23 AM UTC flag Report link Permalink

Yes, I am. Please remove the tag.

sacredceltic sacredceltic February 14, 2013 February 14, 2013 at 12:04:11 PM UTC flag Report link Permalink

No you're not.

sacredceltic sacredceltic February 14, 2013 February 14, 2013 at 12:13:38 PM UTC flag Report link Permalink

you cannot be native French, English, Russian, Uyghour and what not, young man. Stop being silly...

FeuDRenais FeuDRenais February 14, 2013 February 14, 2013 at 12:14:51 PM UTC flag Report link Permalink

We could start the game where I accuse you of not being a native French speaker, either, which would certainly cast doubt on your 80 billion sentences. But instead I'm going to put my faith in Tatoeba's community and say...

@MODERATORS:

I've attempted to native check this sentence, but a certain user insists on tagging it as still needing checking, and accuses me of not being a native speaker in the interim. Can someone put an end to this? The easiest would probably be for another English speaker to OK it (e.g. CK).

sacredceltic sacredceltic February 14, 2013 February 14, 2013 at 12:22:07 PM UTC flag Report link Permalink

Indeed, the correct procedure is that an actual native, such as CK, OK tags it.
But you cannot do it yourself, because you're neither a corpus maintainer nor a native English speaker (and so states you profile...)

sacredceltic sacredceltic February 14, 2013 February 14, 2013 at 12:23:53 PM UTC flag Report link Permalink

well, I mean, so states THIS ciurrent verison of THIS profile of you, but of course, we know you've got several profiles and that you changed the versions along the timeline and you'll probably continue to do that.
Brats love to impersonate nationalities and personalities they lack...

Waste of skin. Full stop.

This will stop the day you grow up...

I've removed the tag. I think sacredceltic is misunderstanding the tag's purpose.

The tag is put by an user if he is unsure in translation. It doesn't mean the corrector must actually be native (in fact, the tag may be also used for Latin and Klingon, where natives don't exist).

@sacredceltic If you think this sentence has mistakes, please use @check tag, not @needs native check.

> I think sacredceltic is misunderstanding the tag's purpose.

No. You don't. The tag is for what it states. You can't change the rules and you have no right to remove a legitimate tag from me.

Demetrius Demetrius February 14, 2013 February 14, 2013 at 12:41:18 PM UTC flag Report link Permalink

This tag is put by the *owner* of the sentence. (Or by moderators on his behalf, if he asks for this.)

If you think this sentence is wrong, please use @check (and it would be nice if you also stated why it's wrong).

Demetrius Demetrius February 14, 2013 February 14, 2013 at 12:44:27 PM UTC flag Report link Permalink

I've added a few @NNC's to you English sentences to demonstrate your understanding is incorrect.

FeuDRenais FeuDRenais February 14, 2013 February 14, 2013 at 2:47:09 PM UTC flag Report link Permalink

While we're talking about sacredceltic's abuse/misunderstanding of tags, I also wouldn't mind hearing his excuse for tagging as @change this Mandarin sentence:

http://tatoeba.org/chi/sentences/show/810150

despite his not speaking a single word of Mandarin (nevermind that the sentence is fine, as has been decided in the comments).

That is not an abuse. i don't know how this tag ended there. I never tag Chinese sentences. I can't read Chinese.
It's probably a typing mistake.

stop behaving like a whining child.

I add "precise the use and scope of the @need native check tag" to my todo list of things to put in the new rules

it would have been better if you've bring this discussion to the wall as soon as it started to take a wider scope that simply being about that sentence
