Note: I would like this in Japanese please.
I'm thinking it may be somewhere along the lines of
母ちゃん住んだ村に噂があります。その噂に寄ると母ちゃんの先祖は日本人です。
なんとかなんとか。

I will translate this sentence in Japanese.
But I don't understand what "I don't know what to make of it." means.
Could anyone translate or rephrase this?

First sentences in Japanese:「私の母の村には日本人の祖先がいたという噂がある。」

I'm not sure, but it seems that "to make of" means something like "to understand; to interpret". That is,
"I don't know what to make of it." ~ "I don't know how to understand it."
It would be really nice if some native speaker commented this.

"I don't know what to make of it" = "I don't understand what it is" / "I don't understand what it's about"

sharptoothed's explanation is pretty much right.

Thank you, I got it!
I added Japanese translation!

2wakatyann630
It seems that you added the translation of the 1st sentence only. :-)

Oh, I had thought that I had already corrected it.
It's OK now. :-)

@AlanF_US - Does this sentence sound natural?

@Ricardo 14 - Yes, it's fine. I removed the "@change" tag.
