הוא נתן לה מכה בגב.
Of course, it all depends on the context (while our Russian sentence at hand has no context, so I guess all the suggested variants could be valid).

Russian here might have a gender context)): хлопнуть is sth good in a game, prank etc. It might imply unexpectedness and by default means a single action, unlike хлопать и похлопать.
My dictionary translates טפח as похлопать, so I doubt that it is appropriate.
