"Day before yesterday I quit my job" is a sentence one might hear in speech or a song, but wouldn't see in writing.

Do you mean I should add "The" at the beginning of the sentence?

Ĉar frazo kun ‘the day before yesterday’ jam ekzistas, eble estos pli bone skribi ion alian (kiel ‘two days ago’). Kion vi opinias pri tio? ☺
