Ich will Dich nicht nerven, also jetzt ganz leise: ((Passwort))

Couldn't we/you allow sentences with 'alte Rechtschreibung' tag or 'old spelling' or something? Maybe some would like to learn that one, too. I know I would :~>

This a good idea. I learnt the old spelling in the school only.
Das ist eine gute Idee. Ich habe nur die alte Rechtschreibung in der Schule gelernt.

Which one is according to the Neue Rechtschreibung, "Passwort"?

@Oeneykcall
I can see where you are coming from.
Personally I believe we should record the language as it is now and not as it used to be.
And, by the way, the content of this particular sentence, I believe, calls for a modern way of spelling, it having to do with computers and things. Allowing both variants all the time would make things look rather messy, I suppose.

@Eldad
"Passwort" is Neue Rechtschreibung

>as it is now
Those who learned to write by the old spelling haven't all died (...yet). So this would be discriminating against them.
ps. Computers existed before 1996, so did the Internet. :>

@Oeneykcall
I am very much an old-spelling generation person myself, and I am happy to use the language the way it is meant to be now and I don't feel discriminated against.

Well, don't assume everyone is or ought to feel the same way then. Happy to see random people make random changes...

Don't worry Ooneykcall, I won't assume that.

I am a current student of German, and am finding Tatoeba very good for this purpose, thanks to all the great sentences added by German native speakers. German spelling is hard enough for me (as an English speaker) without me having to learn the alte Rechtschreibung. Give me the neue Rechtschreibung any day!
(edit: alte Rechtschreibung. neue Rechtschreibung)

Denouncing old spelling as 'wrong' hurts the feelings of us old stuff lovers. :(

I suppose old stuff lovers still drive their cars on the left in Sweden then.
