"Functions don't have side effects." ?
Seems a rather odd sentence, to say the least.

I think it's computer sciences related.

I think "safe" is the word usually used. Like 'thread-safe'. Is there any indication that 副作用 is actually used like this in Japanese?

Never mind. Looks like it's a quote from wiki about 'Functional languages/programming'. Although it's found outside of wiki as well so hopefully won't run afoul of copyright trouble.

Sysko gave a specific example of when one single sentence was used successfully to sue someone for breach of copyright. So, yes, if 関数が副作用を持たない。 was _only_ to be found in Wikipedia and Wikipedia sourced sites it would have a @possible copyright violation tag right now.
Hopefully you won't be repeating your earlier mistakes with regard to Wikipedia quoting.

P.S. You _don't_ want to upset boat on Copyright issues. If I, or Sysko, were pushed to go through your all Japanese submissions the results probably wouldn't be pretty.

Who is boat?

More importantly, if some of xTofu's sentences are not copyright free then I might be wasting my time translating them into English.

> Who is boat?
Oh there's only one boat. You know, _the_ boat.
