Would "la comida francesa" be more formal?

You would say "LA comida francesa" if, for example, you have several choices of food and you decide to eat the french "one".

Even in that case, it may not sound very natural.

I hope you understood my poor english...

Thanks for that, that does make sense. I'd been taught to use "el" or "la" all the time. And don't worry about your English, it seems very good!

In that sentence, if the verb were 'me gusta' or 'prefiero', then yes, we would use 'la'.

"Me gusta la comida francesa", "Prefiero la comida francesa". :)
