Who is it against whom the war is declared here?

While in popular Net speech the meaning of 'grammar Nazi' appears to be rather flexible depending on the motivations and trollishness of the speaker, I'd take it to be someone who adheres to strict language rules above common sense, which I find silly and counterproductive since language is a product of natural evolution and should remain as such; highly proscriptive attitudes only work for threatened languages and languages in the making. Upholding a rule but still neglecting to put in a substantial raison d'être, at least as an argument, appears rather silly to me.
