Ich glaube "auf dem Teppich" wäre natürlicher. Bin aber nicht ganz sicher.

Muriel: "auf den Teppich" bedeutet, dass der Teppich der Empfänger des Kaffees war, und "auf dem Teppisch" beschreibt wo ich stand als ich den Kaffee verschüttete. Beides ist also möglich,aber das erste scheint mir wahrscheinlicher.

Ja, ich weiß, dass beides möglich ist. Aber ich glaube, dass in der Praxis eher letzteres benützt wird. Deswegen habe ich "natürlicher" geschrieben.

Danke Muriel. Ich schreibe also "auf dem Teppich" und als Übersetzung aus dem Esperanto schreibe ich "auf den Teppich".
