question: shouldn't it be "were less polluted"?

Yes, I hesitated whether to use "be" instead.

Yeah, it does sound a bit unnatural, and would be better with just "be".
Also, a more common way to say basically the same thing is "I would like it very much if the place where I live were less polluted."

Dear Zifre, please add your variants for the same Spanish sentence.

I changed mine.

Okay, I just didn't want to add it because I don't think it's exactly a great translation of the Spanish sentence... but I guess it is how most English speakers would say it.

This sentence doesn't sound native.

Does it sound better now?

It's better, but it's still not so native... The other English translation attached to this one is best (except for the "were," which should be changed to "was").

Please write the wording that you prefer, I'll see if I can change it to that.

"I would very much like the place where I live to be less polluted."

Thanks, done.
