the italian sentence (which seems to be the original sentence) says "I've been a teacher for two years."

Oh, is this how you would say in Italian: I've been a teacher for..."?

yeah, i'd say like this in italian. An alternative version is "Sono stato un maestro per...", but "Ho fatto il maestro per..." is correct too
