¿esto -> este?

why not "esto"? both seem right to me.

It always seemed to me that people used este, esta, etc. when referring to actual objects in hand, and esto for ideas or indefinite objects. Of course, I could easily be mistaken. ;-)

In this case I think we could add the three versions, este, esta and esto, since we don't know what we're referring to, and depending on the situation all of them could be right.

I think that might be overkill. ;-)

But if you want to, adding more translations would be fine. I would assume that the sentence is referring to something like clothing in a store.

yes, I know that :P but if you're talking about a red skirt (for example :P) it would be better to say "esta", if you're talking about something you've just seen and you're not sure whether it's a dress or a blouse, "esto" would be fine :P
