Btw for the English moderators, there are quite a few sentences here:

And for the moderators or corpus maintainers of other languages, you can get a similar page by changing the three letter language code at the end.

e.g. http://tatoeba.org/fre/tags/for...rs/@change/spa
http://tatoeba.org/fre/tags/for...rs/@change/fra

It's supposed to be part of the CM's job to fix these.

As he said — you are not alone. I experience the same thing when I try to send or read a message. It always takes a while, up to a few minutes, during which time Tatoeba is completely frozen. I usually take a book or open a new tab in my browser to do something else while I wait for the process to be completed.

I would like to make a suggestion about the Japanese sentences in the corpus. I find sentences with automatically added furigana not very convenient. Most of them are not correct so, since they don’t fulfill their function, they become useless. Some people usually post comments with the right reading, but wouldn’t it be better that users themselves could modify that furigana sentences?

The fact of not being able to find words just by writing the hiragana is also a problem. Sometimes a Japanese word may be written with several different kanjis, and the only sentences displayed are those containing the same kanji that you wrote.

From my point of view, a good and easy solution would be having furigana sentences deleted and letting users write a related sentence wholly in hiragana, as it was a translation. This way it would become possible to search by pronunciation and not just by kanji. What do you think?

Do jen la korektita teksto:

al_ex_an_der al_ex_an_der July 4, 2012 July 4, 2012 at 8:43:55 PM UTC flag Report link Permalink

Ich selbst finde es vorteilhaft "Maria" zu verwenden. Mir scheint das ein Name zu sein, der in sehr vielen Sprachen heimisch ist, oder zumindest nicht fremd erscheint.

About tags...
I was wondering if tags which refer to almost the same aspect of sentences are meant to be combined into one tag. If so; who is responsible for that?
There seem to be many equivalent pairs, for instance: job and profession. I believe they should be merged. Is this a right approach for such situations?

i think "proverbaro esperanta" relates to the source of these proverbs; they should be tagged both "proverbaro esperanta" and "proverb".

the same goes for "indian proverb" and "... japanese proverb" (which should be shortened of course); they should get both their tag plus "translated proverb".

In a meta-tag system i would prefer "proverb" to be the most general, having "original" and "translated as sub groups, who on their own have subgroups like the ones mentioned above.

I think we should add Piedmontese language (Piemontèis/lenga piemontèisa) to the language menu. Piemontèis, although not recognized as official by the italian government, is an actual language still spoken by a lot of people in the Piedmont region in northwestern Italy. It has a grammar and vocabulary of its own with substantial differences with the italian ones.

Please add Piemontèis language and I'll contribute with many sentences and translations directly from native speakers.

Thank you

You have to add sentences here, on Tatoeba. :)

You can add new sentences here:
http://tatoeba.org/eng/sentences/add
(Choose any language right now; it will be changed later)

Or you can just add translations of other sentences.
