A few days ago there were about 171500 English sentences but today there are only 48325 sentences. What's the reason for that?
bug in the database due to a crash, actually it was only the number displayed which was wrong, the sentences are still all here :) and now it should be fixed.

BTW, could you tell me what software you used last time to spam my inbox. I would really like to know how to send messages through the tatoeba messaging system as there are some really usefull features that could be implemented that way.
Here you are yet another way you could recover your trust.
BTW it's very easy to send automated messages with existing software like wget.
Just use Firebug to get your credentials in a cookie and the fields that should be set, and use wget (or the software you use). I've used this to mass-tag proverbs some time ago.

All you have to do is to send a POST request to http://tatoeba.org/eng/private_messages/send with the following fields:

Yes, I've created a text file with sentence IDs. It's much faster than opening each page and typing the tag text, though more error-prone.
That s exactly what i ve already tried, but it didnt work. Maybe because of the cookie information that s missing! I ll try to get that cookie info and also send it, thanks for the tip!
I can't find any info on cookies in AJAX, maybe maybe XMLHttpRequest just doesn't allow using cookies? :(
BTW, for me, the following cookies are sent: '__utma', '__utmz', 'CakeCookie[User]', 'CakeCookie[hash_last_com]', 'CakeCookie[contribute_lang]', 'CAKEPHP', 'CakeCookie[interfaceLanguage]', '__utmb', '__utmc'. I don't know which ones are really neccessary and which ones can be omited.

Btw, I think we should delete all accounts that dont have any contributions (e.g. see in the users index[1], those which have randomly looking usernames)!
As there are maybe some, who were interested, but didnt understand the project, we should write them an e-mail that says that they're welcome to register again if they want so (and link to the [help page][2] for further information). The spammers won't care about our message.

And we should employ an official time limit (e.g. a few month) so such profiles will be deleted automatically (or manually, but regularly).

I thought about the SPAM thing:
I propose that also PMs should be delivered directly, *but* there should be a time-limit and a ceiling for new messages: e.g. a maximum of 10 messages per hour should be deliverd directly, about the rest you will only be notified like "you have 300 new messages" (which then are probably SPAM). I recommend that the values be changeable by the user or better increase with the recent activity (as you expect someones reaction then).

could anyone (@jakov) make this simple script:
- Hide translations:
When this script is running, the TEXT (not flags, nothing else, simply the text) from all translations to every sentence on screen disappears. All translations to a sentence are toggled visible by pressing a button.
I wish I had this, so when I feel like practicing, I grab a notebook, run the script, and then "Oh, I see this sentence is translated to German, but I can't see it translated yet. I'll try translating it myself first, and then see if they match."
What about it? I guess the script should be no big deal :P

Request for script integration

I would request as a feature, that there should be textarea where the user can copy javascript which will be executed every time.
Them we could make *[Userscripts]* much more user-friendly. Other users lime me should be able to publish their scripts and enable the users to easily use them by just activating a checkbox.
This time it's really serve side. Of course *greasemonkey*, *blank canvas handler* and *ninjakit* are an option, but i guess these are only for the nerds and many users might not want to have to install something.
So please: For the first we would just need a textarea with a save button. The content should be put into a script tag.

Scripts that work this way should be easily integrateable for all users if accepted by the admin. However, greasemonkey scripts work quite differently as they use nin javascript features and often need tedious workaround just for not beeing executed on the page itself.

I have sent a request to Sysko in order to add my language, Berber (Amazigh - North Africa) to the website. Now I am waiting for the language to be added. However I have a question: can I add more than the 10 requested sentences in my language even if it's not yet one of Tatoeba's recognized languages ? In other words, can I add an unlimited number of sentences in my language at the present stage ?

What is fascinating is the analysis of the corpus of insults. It revolves obsessively around whores & lesbians. I think it tells a lot on the sexist mentality and culture of these kids...I wouldn't want to be the mother or sister of such brats.
